Katherine Illgen, LCSW is now offering Exposure and Ritual Prevention (ExRP/ERP) therapy for the treatment of OCD. Exposure and Ritual Prevention (ExRP) therapy stands as the gold standard in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), offering a transformative approach to confronting and managing its symptoms. Through structured exposure to anxiety-provoking stimuli and deliberate prevention of compulsive responses, ExRP encourages individuals to face their fears directly, gradually desensitizing them to distressing thoughts and situations. By breaking the cycle of avoidance and ritualistic behaviors, ExRP empowers patients to regain control over their lives, fostering long-lasting relief and resilience against OCD's grip. Its evidence-based efficacy and emphasis on confronting fears head-on make ExRP an indispensable cornerstone in the comprehensive treatment of OCD, paving the way for profound healing and renewed quality of life. Like other intensives offered by MWC, EXRP/ERP sessions are held weekly for 90 minutes. Treatment is typically between 8-15 weeks. Call us or click below to schedule your complimentary 15-minute session with Katherine to see if EXRP/ERP is right for you!

Now offering Prolonged Exposure Therapy!

Beginning in February 2024, Katherine Illgen will be offering Prolonged Exposure Therapy as a treatment for PTSD. PE is a short-term, evidence-based treatment that is effective for acute and chronic PTSD. It does not matter if the traumatic event was 1 year ago or 30, or if you have experienced one traumatic event, or numerous over a sustained timespan; PE can work for you.

In many cases, by the end of treatment, clients who receive PE no longer meet the criteria for PTSD and have overcome many if not all of their avoidant behaviors.

Due to the complexity and nature of PE Therapy, Katherine only accepts a limited number of PE clients at a time. PE is only available as self-pay. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Katherine.

Manifest Wellness Counseling is VIRTUAL!

Beginning this month, MWC is moving to a fully virtual platform. The benefits of telehealth are clear, and the research suggests that virtual appointments have the same efficacy as in-person appointments. ‘

While this means that MWC will no longer be in-network with Medicaid, we are able to provide a super bill for individuals to submit for reimbursement.

MWC is also excited to announce that we are now on Facebook. Monarch, and the WebMD provider directory.

If you are interested in reaching out for a free 15-minute consolation to see if Katherine is the right fit for you, please give us a call at 757-276-1629.

Spring is officially here, and summer is right around the corner! That means longer days, vacations, and … moving?!? Sixty percent of moves occur between May and August. That is important to us at MWC because it means that many people are facing increased stress and it is when we see a rise in requests for emotional support animal (ESA) letters. While we do provide these letters, we only do so for clinically appropriate clients who meet ESA criteria and who have been actively engaged in services for at least 6 months. It is also important to note that service animals and emotional support animals are not the same things and have different rights under the law. ESA letters, for example, must be completed annually. Please do your research prior to talking to your therapist about an ESA letter so that you know the limitations and rights.

MWC will be offering an in-person therapeutic group called Mastering Moods each Thursday for 12 weeks.

The group will have different topics each week such as managing anxiety, anger, and depression. It will focus on automatic thoughts and core beliefs and how to challenge them when they become problematic. This group has been successful in Maryland and was provided to veterans at the Martinsburg VA.

If you are interested but unable to be here in-person, please email Katherine. If there is enough demand, we are able to offer the group via telehealth.

Update 4/1/2023: The Mastering Moods Group is on hold. Once we have obtained the required number of interested individuals, we will set a start date.

6/13/2023
